First introduced in The Wise Man’s Fear, Tak players can gain an even deeper understanding of the game with the Tak: Companion Book written by game creators Patrick Rothfuss and James Ernest of Cheapass Games with illustrations by Nate Taylor

This book touches on the game's origins, and explains the ancestry and meaning of various types of pieces. It also contains an expanded rules section describing regional game variations, as well as strategy hints and terms for various plays and combinations, plus a lot of extra goodies. 

Additionally, flip the book over to the back cover and use it as a makeshift Tak board on the fly! With this book in your possession, you not only have a terrific archive but also an efficient 4x4 board!

The hardcover format is 8.5" square and features a 5x5 hybrid game board (diamonds and squares) on the back cover, designed by Pete Venters. It's a great addition to the Tavern Pieces, making it easy to take Tak wherever you go! (Please note that the Companion Book does not come with any game pieces.)
